Congratulations Michael and Katie

February 10, 2012

Congratulations Michael and Katie!

Michael and Katie approached me in October with a specific request. “We would like to adopt a little boy with Down syndrome, can you help us?” Eager and ready to go, they started with CAC on October 13th. They continued working to complete their home study, and I began creating a very special profile introducing their family to potential birth parents and sharing their heart for Down syndrome adoption.

This was to be Michael and Katie’s first adoption. With three beautiful children at home, they knew without a doubt that the child that would join their family through adoption would have Down syndrome.

Their home study seemed to take forever, and they were so ready. They had to pass up a few situations because of home study delays, but they continued to trust the Lord for his perfect timing. On January 25th, just shortly after their home study was completed, I called them to say, “Hey, an agency in Kansas City is looking for a family for a 5 week old little boy with Down syndrome. He has a heart defect and will need surgery down the road.”

I barely finished my sentences and Michael said, “When can we come get him?”

And so the journey began. They were presented to the birthmom and the social worker presenting their profile was able to say, “I have a family that would love to adopt your child, they have been waiting for a little boy just like yours.”

They were matched and drove to Kansas City, where the love story is only just beginning. They are eager to return home and introduce this precious little man to his brother and sisters. Please pray for him to be discharged from the NICU soon, and for the ICPC process to be speedy, so that his family can all be together!

I am so grateful for this beautiful family, and am so blessed to have been part of their journey.

Katie is my cousin and I am so happy her and michael have been led to the child that God promised them. It takes special parents to raise a child with downs syndrome, even more special to choose to adopt a child with downs syndrome. I feel blessed to be part of this family!

    Good Morning Tracy,
I am Katie’s step mother. When Katie and Michael told us that they were matched with a child, my heart was overflowing with love and gratitude. We are so excited and blessed to have this special child of God in our family. I for one cannot wait to get my grandma hands on him. I know I can say this without a doubt for the rest of the grandparrents, this child will be loved, hugged and protected with everything we have. Welcome home little man.

Congrats to the fam! I have a two year old son(with Ds), as well as two other lovely children. What a blessing to the baby to have a family like you, and what a blessing the baby will be to the family. God bless, congratulations, and thank you for loving that baby for what he, as well as other babies are… a precious gift!<3
